Apple unveils two new iPhones- Faster 5S and Cheaper 5C 0

KobraHunter | Wednesday, September 11, 2013 | , , , , ,

Hoping to take another big bite in global Smart Phone Market, Apple on tuesday unveiled two iPhones with smart design. One is the traditional upgraded version and other is a cheaper and simpler version. According to Apple CEO Tim Cook, iPhone 5S and 5C are the answers to changing reactions of Smartphone market.

"Business has become so large that this year we are going to replace the iPhone 5 and we're going to replace it with not one, but two new designs," Cook said. "This allows us to serve even more customers."

Eventhough iPhone 5C is cheaper, it has got Apple's latest iOS 7 at a price tag of $99. Moreover 5C is available in 5 colours such as green, white, blue, pink, yellow and these variants of iPhone 5C were exhibited in Cupertino Headquarters. Apple used polycarbonate translucent plastic for this model. It is expected that both these iPhones will hit simultaneously the Smartphone market on September 20, this year. iPhone 5C is priced at $99 for 16 GB version and $199 for the 32 GB version.

The cheaper iPhone is powered by older A6 processor and has 8 MP camera.

Apples flagship smartphone, iPhone 5S comes with a much faster processor and fingerprint scanner. Interestingly, it will be available in 3 colours such as black, gold and silver. iPhone 5 was built over A6 processor while the 5S is powered by A7 processor. Apple claims that A7 is packed with twice the number of transistors as in A6 and it can deliver twice the speed than A6. Apple includes a so called M7 motion co-processor in iPhone 5S which keeps tab on accelerometer, gyroscope and compass to enable mostly healthness apps like Nike +. This M7 motion technology will send data from sensors to various Apps to track motion while we are running, walking or driving.

The touch ID fingerprint sensor is associated with home button which avoids PIN and it will enable you to directly purchase from iTunes. Apple claims that it will scan fingerprint as well as subdermal layers and data is stored in highly encrypted mode inside A7 chip. Moreover these pieces of data are not accessible for any software. So it is safe and secure.

iPhone 5S is available in three price tags with 2 year cellular contract such as $199 for 16 GB, $299 for 32 GB or $399 for 64 GB. New iOS will have much better features than its previous version. Siri will be available in both male and female voices. Also, the App for creating documents, spreadsheet etc called iWalk will be available as free App for new devices.

Apple is very much curious about the growing Market share of Android OS and its customer base. So the realised that it would be difficult for them to remain as a trendsetter unless some new products are introduced. It is said that Apple holds only 14% of Smartphone share globally. While Google already passed its 1 billionth Android activation, Apple will make its 700 millionth shipment next month. I think it may be the reason for the introduction of these two iPhones in a single day. Moreover many Android devices are readily available in Smartphone market below $100. So we have to wait for some days and watch whether Apple succeeds in taking THE BIG BITE or not.
