KobraHunter | Sunday, February 18, 2018 | , , , , , , , , , ,

It was a busy week for Xiaomi, as the Chinese device maker announced new products in India, starting with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 (review). It was launched on Wednesday with a starting price of Rs. 9,999, and goes on sale from February 22. The Redmi Note 5 is powered by a Snapdragon 625 SoC, and it has a solid 4000mAh battery.

The devices will be available across Xiaomi's official website, Flipkart and even Mi Home. The company also promised that these devices will be made available in offline stores as well. Earlier Redmi phones have been all-rounders with a major shortcoming, camera. This year, Xiaomi claims that it has not only improved the camera on the Redmi Note 5 but also made it the strongest selling point of the device. With the new processor and the all new optics, this Redmi phone may actually eat into the sales of more expensive phones like the OnePlus 5T .

    Performance

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro is the first device in the world to feature the latest octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC. This CPU promises flagship-like performance, courtesy to the Kryo microarchitecture based on ARM Cortex technology. Earlier seen on Snapdragon 800 series processors, this architecture is likely to bring flagship-grade performance to the latest Redmi device.

This flagship DNA and better thermal is expected to boost performance of Redmi Note 5 Pro by 50 per cent and increase battery efficiency by 40 per cent, Xiaomi claimed. Moreover, with its ability to sustain this high-level performance, the Snapdragon is likely to keep the Redmi Note 5 Pro in top order for an extended period of time.

The Snapdragon 636 houses four A73 cores using Kryo 260 architecture, clocked at 1.8 GHz. The rest of the four low-firing Kryo cores can deliver up to 1.6GHz. This much clock speed and performance optimisation makes the Note 5 Pro the fastest Redmi device ever, towering even above its bestselling predecessor the Redmi Note 4.

The Redmi Note 5 Pro also becomes the first device in mid-range line-up by Xiaomi to feature 6GB of RAM. The device is 20-35 per cent more power efficient than its competition as it sports LPDDR4X RAM, the company claimed.

    Design

The Redmi Note 5 Pro features tapered back cover with curved edges so that the device sits comfortably in the hand. The corners on the device also come with a slight curve to them, something which has not been seen on the earlier Redmi devices. The familiar antenna lines on the back have been retained from the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, and so is the circular fingerprint sensor.

What draws the eye on the back of the Redmi Note 5 Pro is the vertical dual camera setup, reminiscent of the one on Apple iPhone X. The iPhone X semblance is tough to miss in the two cameras that have been placed at the top left corner with a LED flash placed between them.

The 5.99-inch screen with 18:9 aspect ratio and minimal bezels dominates the front of Redmi Note 5 Pro. At the top, you get the front-facing camera with LED flash and the usual array of sensors.

The Redmi Note 5 Pro will be sold in four colour options - black, gold, light blue, and rose gold.

Flower blooms on international space station for the first time 0

KobraHunter | Wednesday, January 20, 2016 | , , , , , , , ,

A bright orange zinnia has blossomed aboard the International Space Station, marking a first in space.
Zinnias grow easily on Earth and blossom in abundance in summer. But on the ISS, where they were taken to carry out experiments, they have had trouble adapting to microgravity.
Orange Zinnia blooms on International Space Station

Several were doing poorly back in December as mold grew on some of their their leaves because of high humidity, NASA said.

"First flower even grown in space makes its debut," US astronaut Scott Kelly wrote on Twitter, with a photo of the flower.

Growing such flowers -- zinnias are edible -- is part of a long term NASA project known as Veggie.

It is designed to produce food with an eye to long, manned missions to Mars. Such autonomy is key to astronauts' survival in space, NASA says.

Crew on the ISS have already grown and eaten lettuce last year aboard the orbiting craft and hope to produce tomatoes by next year.

Growing vegetables on the space station began in mid-2014. They are grown aeroponically -- without soil, in an air or mist environment. The system requires much less water and fertilizer, and plants grow three times faster than on Earth, NASA says.

How Glide Bomb differ from other conventional Bombs? 0

KobraHunter | Saturday, March 14, 2015 | , , , ,

We all know what happens in a conventional Bomb. When a conventional bomb is dropped from an aircraft, it has a free flight and hit the destination. But the accuracy will not be high. A bomb dropped from an aircraft depends on speed and direction of wind, direction of aircraft etc. Is it possible for a bomb to control its path, navigate and reach its destination with 100 % accuracy?

The answer is Yes and that bomb is named as Glide Bomb. Glide bomb or Stand Off bomb is provided with flight control surfaces which helps in its journey towards destination. It is also supported by navigation system, which helps in tracking the destination. It can be released from much distance from target while a conventional bomb can be released right above the destination. This type of bomb with radio guidance was used in World war II .

Apple unveils two new iPhones- Faster 5S and Cheaper 5C 0

KobraHunter | Wednesday, September 11, 2013 | , , , , ,

Hoping to take another big bite in global Smart Phone Market, Apple on tuesday unveiled two iPhones with smart design. One is the traditional upgraded version and other is a cheaper and simpler version. According to Apple CEO Tim Cook, iPhone 5S and 5C are the answers to changing reactions of Smartphone market.

"Business has become so large that this year we are going to replace the iPhone 5 and we're going to replace it with not one, but two new designs," Cook said. "This allows us to serve even more customers."

Eventhough iPhone 5C is cheaper, it has got Apple's latest iOS 7 at a price tag of $99. Moreover 5C is available in 5 colours such as green, white, blue, pink, yellow and these variants of iPhone 5C were exhibited in Cupertino Headquarters. Apple used polycarbonate translucent plastic for this model. It is expected that both these iPhones will hit simultaneously the Smartphone market on September 20, this year. iPhone 5C is priced at $99 for 16 GB version and $199 for the 32 GB version.

The cheaper iPhone is powered by older A6 processor and has 8 MP camera.

Apples flagship smartphone, iPhone 5S comes with a much faster processor and fingerprint scanner. Interestingly, it will be available in 3 colours such as black, gold and silver. iPhone 5 was built over A6 processor while the 5S is powered by A7 processor. Apple claims that A7 is packed with twice the number of transistors as in A6 and it can deliver twice the speed than A6. Apple includes a so called M7 motion co-processor in iPhone 5S which keeps tab on accelerometer, gyroscope and compass to enable mostly healthness apps like Nike +. This M7 motion technology will send data from sensors to various Apps to track motion while we are running, walking or driving.

The touch ID fingerprint sensor is associated with home button which avoids PIN and it will enable you to directly purchase from iTunes. Apple claims that it will scan fingerprint as well as subdermal layers and data is stored in highly encrypted mode inside A7 chip. Moreover these pieces of data are not accessible for any software. So it is safe and secure.

iPhone 5S is available in three price tags with 2 year cellular contract such as $199 for 16 GB, $299 for 32 GB or $399 for 64 GB. New iOS will have much better features than its previous version. Siri will be available in both male and female voices. Also, the App for creating documents, spreadsheet etc called iWalk will be available as free App for new devices.

Apple is very much curious about the growing Market share of Android OS and its customer base. So the realised that it would be difficult for them to remain as a trendsetter unless some new products are introduced. It is said that Apple holds only 14% of Smartphone share globally. While Google already passed its 1 billionth Android activation, Apple will make its 700 millionth shipment next month. I think it may be the reason for the introduction of these two iPhones in a single day. Moreover many Android devices are readily available in Smartphone market below $100. So we have to wait for some days and watch whether Apple succeeds in taking THE BIG BITE or not.

Which Is Best-Android or Iphone or Windows Phone? 0

KobraHunter | Thursday, August 16, 2012 | , , , , , ,

Mobile phone Industry has been getting extreme boom after the successful introduction of iPhone by Apple Computers which is the most luxurious phone. After the launch of Iphone, Google came up with its Android Operating System. Googles Android Operating System is most popular among Smartphone users because of its Android Market. Android OS is an open Source Operating System. So this attracts many developers and also mobile phone manufacturers like Samsung,HTC,LG,Motorola etc. After Google's android OS, Microsoft Corporation entered Smartphone market by launching Window Operating System Phones.

Android or Iphone or Windows

Android Phones are cheaper than iPhones. But there are High price Android Phones like Samsung galaxy Still phone with Android ice cream sandwich operating system version. Nokia and Microsoft jointly launched Nokia Lumia Series in 2011. Nokia was using its own Symbian operating system till the launch of Lumia Series. Symbian Operating System is about to wind up. Now Nokia is about to launch Windows 8 Smartphones.

Android live wallpapers, android widget, flash for android, android flash player, android tethering, facebook for android, twitter for android, frequent android updates, google maps in android, swype in android etc are some of the features of Android.

Android or Iphone or Windows

Mobile Phone manufactures like Android because of high popularity and good market place. Among the Android versions, Gingerbread and Icecream Sandwich are most popular. Android Icecream Sandwich is available for Tablets too. Androids merits are listed below

Opensource

Lots of Apps for Android than any other OS

Can Third party Apps too

Good user interface and it can be customised

Anything having some merits will definitly have some demerits too. Almost every Android Phone has Battery Backup Problem. Even in highly configured Android phones, processing is slow and it is also a demerit of Android.

Android or Iphone or Windows

Now we can check different features in details

Widgets: Android Widget is similar to shortcut of an app. It is located in home screen and can do some functions of the original App with out opening that app directly. Users can customize the size, position and identity of these Widgets. In my Sony Xperia Neo V, i have weather widget and some Shortcuts. It is shown here.

Sony Xperia Neo V

Navigation:Androids Map is integrated with Turn by turn Navigation with Spoken direction, "Layers" to see traffic and terrain of a location. Android users can also see satellite photographs of places and it is a plus point for Android.

Text Input/Correction:In my opinion, Android has much effective Text Input/Correction scheme than Windows OS and iOS. Swype Keyboard, which comes with Android IceCream Sandwich is an exciting feature for an one hand typist.

'Back' And 'Menu' Button: Apple's iPhone has only one button, which brings to Home screen. Android comes with Three Buttons. They are Back button,Home Button and App Switcher Button. Windows OS also provides Three Buttons such as Back Button,Search Button and a Camera Launch Button.

Google Services: Do u love Google and its Services? Android OS is integrated with Gmail, Google Reader, Gchat, Google Talk, Google Calendar and every other Google service. So Android is a best option for Google Lovers.

Integration with Other Apps: Android can import contacts from Facebook,Gmail etc. It can also connect to twitter, Google+, Tumblr etc.

Google Play Store/Market:Google has spent huge time and money for establishing its App market, Google Play Store. But it is not superior or equal to iTunes Store, which is higly secure for users. Google Play store is always susceptible to Malwares and other unwanted Apps. Windows phone marketplace is very secure and has many good apps too.
Beauty: Many users say that Android phones are ugly and among Android phones, HTC have much good design. In my opinion Sony Ericson(now Sony) also have good design Smartphones.

Touch: iPhones and Windows Phone have good touch screens compared to Android phones. But in highly configured Android phone, the difference is invisible

Iso files and Bin files are commonly used Formats to Create Disk Image File.  ISO in ISO Image stands for International Organization for Standardization. Bin is commonly, a binary file. Software and game downloaders may also come across a file with extension .cue. Cue file is actually a meta file which contains data related to layout of tracks in CD or DVD.

All Disk Image Files contain all written sectors of an Optical device or any other Storage Devices. From this single Image Disk we can easily extract contents by using a Disk Image Mounter. Disk Image Mounters are used for Extracting ISO Files  or Extracting BIN files by Mounting Disk Image on to them. Disk Image Softwares can create any number of Virtual Drives which can work similar to physical drives.

Windows also provide a Disk Image Software called Windows Disk Image Burner by using which you can burn .img and .iso Image Files.

Active disk image  is a similar software popularly used.

Alert:Internet may shutdown on July 9 0

KobraHunter | Saturday, June 02, 2012 | , , , ,

While searching using Google, if you get a message like "Your computer appears to be infected", dont get frightened. Google has issued this warning to millions of users which also says that they could lose internet connectivity after july 9. This is due to a computer virus or a malware named DNSChanger. Google displays the warning message to help users whose systems are infected with the above malware. Most people are unaware about the situation. So before clicking on links make sure it is secure. Do not try to open suspicious web pages.

How DNSChanger works?

DNSChanger is a Trojan horse which is assumed to be infected about 4 million Computers globally. Out of this 500,000 is in USA and 20,000 is in India. This malware will change the DNS server settings to some rogue DNS network created by malware developers.
The concept behind this malware is to interfere IP address lookup and give a false IP address to computer. The result is that, when you try to open your favorite website, it will be redirected to some fake webpage.

This is really a threat to internet users. So be carefull and if you are infected, do necessary steps to change or restore DNS setting. I will explain step by step procedure in my next post.
